Benjamin Banwart is the Chief Investment Officer at Archetype Energy. Mr. Banwart leads the company’s investment strategy, overseeing project finance, managing its portfolio of renewable energy assets, and ensuring effective capital deployment.
In addition to this, Mr. Banwart is the Co-Founder of Climate Commodities (CC), a global commodity merchant and development accelerator, focused on incubating, scaling, and funding businesses and assets that are essential for clean energy transition, artificial intelligence infrastructure, national defense, and the broader commodity and energy sectors.
Previously, Mr. Banwart served as Commodities & NaturalResources Portfolio Manager and Investor at Millennium Management, a $60bn AUM global hedge fund, and Castleton Commodities (Louis Dreyfus Energy), a leading global commodity merchant. He has led and being solely responsible for billions of dollars of investments in companies, assets, and resources globally in addition to deep experience in physical and financial commodities trading and risk management. Mr. Banwart began his career in the investment banking department of Citigroup focusing on mergers & acquisitions and restructuring within the global insurance industry during the Great Recession.
Mr. Banwart is a graduate of the University of Minnesota and was awarded the President’s Environmental Youth Award by President George W.Bush.
